Outdoor Condenser Units

Ensure Your Business Conforms To EU Rules

Do you have an air conditioning unit, heat pump or refrigeration unit that uses F-gases? Then you need to verify that your company is complying with all applicable regulations. Contact our team at Complete Cooling Services in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and we'll be happy to help.

Commonly, air conditioning units, heat pumps and refrigeration systems contain highly potent greenhouse gases known as fluorinated gases (F-gases).

The European Union has implemented certain legislation that member states need to comply with regarding the use of these F-gases. Their aim is to reduce emissions in a bid to help reduce climate change and the effects of global warming.

You can find specific legislation details from the Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 (the “EU F-gas Regulation”) which came into force in early 2015 by clicking the link below.

Implementation And Compliance

Equipment records need to be kept in order. This is in combination with appropriate logbooks that record any work, repairs, servicing or maintenance carried out by certified companies.

Attention should always be paid to any recurring problems. All F-gases need to be continuously monitored and therefore measured to identify if there are any potential leaks. Environment and working areas need to be well-ventilated in order to protect residences and public areas.

Equipment parts need to be fully inspected and maintenance and efficiency checks carried out. If leaks are detected, further investigations will need to be actioned. Reparations to damaged areas need to be made immediately and a subsequent monthly check should be carried out thereafter to ensure everything is in order.
